Canada’s Caroline Lagrange came for her debut appearance in the championship with a mission and it was accomplished yesterday afternoon when she defeated England’s Zara Giles in come from behind victory.

Caroline, 26, showed nerves of steel in winning the title where despite a setback in the first game where she narrowly lost 189-194, she came to win the next game 210-181 to force a decider.

In the decider, it was close finish, Caroline had to strike home to win the title, and she did just that.

The win saw Canada win their eighth title in the history of the championship (three men victories and women their fifth today).

Caroline who has been bowling for Canada she was 18 years old attributed her victory to first time being lucky and her college playing days in the USA from 2003 to 2006.

“But it was my mum I owe a great deal to. She is my greatest supporter. My dad and my boyfriend Mark Buffa who is here.”

Caroline will be back in Malaysia for the Malaysian Open in March and will also compete in the Qatar Open.

“I want to compete in more tournaments to further improve myself and this win here has really spurred me on aim for higher goals,” said Caroline who won five silver medals at the Commonwealth Bowling championship in 2005 in Caracas and team gold medal in the 2006 championship in Australia.
