SITI IN HUNT ZONE

DAY 1 (WOMEN) – SITI SAFIYAH AMIRAH

SITI AMONG THE LEADER’S PACK

IT could have been better, but Siti Safiyah Amirah did just enough to be among the pack of early leaders on the first day of the 45th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup at the Melaka International Bowling Centre (MIBC).

Siti finished eighth with 1.663 with an average of 207 to among the top eight. The top 24 out of the 66 bowlers competing will make the cut of 24 after another two blocks of 8 games.

Siti had lines of 226, 216, 213, 209, 197, 190, 234 and 178.

Siti was naturally concerned with her three under games and no big score.

“I was trying hard to get a big score which would have helped me move up the ladder. Then I had three under games, which was a worry too,” said Siti.

“But generally, I played well, was comfortable with the lanes and even my sparring was 90%.

“However, I suppose I have to do better and am looking forward to a better outing tomorrow to pull myself up the ladder. I cannot afford to slip any further down because the competition will be very keen in the third block of eight games when everyone will be trying to make the cut. I want to be in a comfortable zone and no pressure myself in the third block.”

Siti said that she was happy that she already had the flow of the game and just need to improve on certain areas.

“I need to improve further on my accuracy and sparring. It has been an average start and I intend to improve with each passing day.”

Indeed, Siti needs to start scoring a few high games and bee consistent to shot 200 games to keep be in the comfortable zone.

After today’s second block of eight games, will be a better picture of the battle ahead as they move to the final block tomorrow, where the scramble to make the cut of 24 will be at a hot pace from the bottom half.
