Singaporean Invasion

DAY 5

Malaysia’s domination in the 12 & Under, in the Milo All-Stars International Bowling Championship is seriously being threatened by the Singaporeans in the Masters final this morning at the Sunway Mega Lanes.

While Malaysia won the top three positions last year in both the boys and girls category, the influx of Singaporean bowlers this year has posed a stiff challenge to the Malaysian bowlers.

Besides, the Singapore Bowling Federation (SBF) bowlers, eight other clubs from the Republic have brought their bowlers for this year’s championship, totaling to about 40 bowlers.

In the boys’ category, out of the 18 qualifiers, eleven are Singaporeans including the leader, Basil Ng with his three games score of 670. In second place is Indonesia’s Darren Reinhart with 648 and Penang’s Muhammad Qayyum is in third spot, with his 645.

This morning, the 18 bowlers will see their scores from three games in the qualifiers added on to the eight games they will bowl, for the final placing.

In the girls’ category, the Singapore domination is less with seven out of the 18 qualifiers.

Leading the qualifiers is last year’s third placed Ayra Nurjehan with a score of 611 while Singaporeans from Strike Academy, Nathalie Gan and Jenae Wee are in second and third place respectively, with scores of 583 and 580

A total of 81 boys took part in the qualifiers for the whole week, while 62 girls have been attempting to make the cut.

The top three bowlers in both the boys and girls will win a trophy, a Brunswick bowling ball and a bag each
