ACWS Day 2 round up report afternoon
session
The top teams in the Asia Cup Women
Softball championship will using the third day in the competition tomorrow to
fine tune their teams in their final league matches.
The lesser teams will
be making a scramble to finish in the best position so as to seek a good draw
to keep their hopes of place to the last two berths to be among the top seven
out of tens competing here for a place in the Asia-Oceania Olympic 2020
to be held in Shanghai in September 2019. The top six Asia teams, other than
Japan (as host) will qualify.
Japan, Philippines, China, Chinese
Taipei, Korea are as good has having made the cut while the remaining two
places could be a battle between Thailand, Hong Kong and host Indonesia.
Tomorrow last Group fixtures in the
two Groups will determine the final placings in their respective Groups and
determine their double page ties.
In the last two matches this
afternoon, Chinese Taipei who were expected to defeat Singapore, were made to
work hard before downing them 10-0.
Singapore’s loss virtually eliminates
their chance for an Olympic qualifier berth after their third consecutive losses.
Chinese Taipei only got their first
run in the third inning and for a total of five in that inning before
collecting and two and three in the next two to confirm victory after five
innings.
In the other, China just did enough
to beat Thailand 8-0 after five innings with 1 run in the first inning, six in
the next and another in the third.
