How do you explain this?

A full-time national team plan is underway, stints, attachments and overseas matches are being planned and a RM50 million fund is being setup in the name of soccer development.

But the Malaysian Schools Sports Council or Majlis Sukan Sekolah-Sekolah Malaysia (MSSM) Under-15 national schools soccer tournament for 2010 has been scrapped because of lack of funds! Read Berita Harian's Khawari Isa's story today.

I wrote a month ago about the impending problems under the heading: The left hand does not know what the right hand  does (read here) and it has happened.
However, the cancellation of the Under-15 national schools soccer tournament, is just the tip of the iceberg.

Obviously, information on the reduction of the RM6 million budget for MSSM to what is believed to be RM1.5, is difficult to obtain.

But it is expected to obtained in the next few days and the full brunt of effect because of the reduction will be published.

So what are we talking about priority to sports, sports development, it being an integral part of nation building, besides having dreams to achieve the highest honours in the respective sports.

When grassroots development of sports takes a backseat, there is no way the sports is going to achieve excellence.
The powers to be are trying to achieve honours by working from the pinnacle and here at the base, sports is being undermined and neglected.

Wonder if all these wise men trying to give Malaysian sports a boost, know anything about the pyramid system or what the word DEVELOPMENT means and what bearing it has on excellence!

We do not know how to walk properly, but want to achieve honours at the highest level!

You forgot that not only is football involved but all other games. Why talk about development. How do you expect under 15 boys to compete with under 18 boys? MSSM needs to review its decision for the development of sports. I hope the DPM is aware of it. Some heads in MSSM will roll after this.

Hope the Sports Minister has a proper explanation this time.
